Demonstrator - Esmee Ingham
Born and raised in West Vancouver, Esmee Ingham spent most of her childhood here in Pemberton where her aunt, Kristi, sparked her passion for horses at a very young age. Growing up on Quarter Horses and with her cousin Ashley, they shared Dusty the Wonder Horse, she rode both western and jumping. Esmee then became involved in Dressage at the age of 12 with her uncle's roping horse Cocoa Buzz (Buzz). Currently, Esmee trains out of Ladner with her coach Wendy Christoff and her horse Norseman. Purchasing Norseman (Normy) in September 2008, a strong bond between the two has developed over the past few years of their partnership.
Esmee advanced to FEI Juniors where she competed at the Canadian Youth Nationals in 2009 winning Reserve Champion. The next year they qualified and competed at the prestigious North American Junior Young Rider Championships held in Kentucky. They were members of the Gold Medal Team (composed of three BC riders), placed Fifth Individually and then won a Bronze Medal in the Freestyle. After returning from Kentucky, Esmee and Normy attended the Canadian Youth Nationals in Chilliwack, winning both the FEI Junior Technical and Freestyle Championship titles.
Now 18, Esmee competes as a FEI Young Rider against other 18-21 year olds.
Esmee and Normy have obtained all of the necessary qualifying scores to attend the North American Junior Young Rider Championships again this year in Kentucky. The horse-rider combinations that are chosen for the two teams that will go down to represent Canada will be announced in June. A long-term goal for Esmee and Normy is to attend the FEI Young Rider World Cup held in Frankfurt each year.
